My show; Late Mornings With Ima is still growing daily at the usual time which is weekdays from 10am to 12 noon on Hit 95.9FM Calabar plus I have the most amazing listeners ever…. No lie about that…

What is respect in a relationship??
Feeling disrespected is the source of a lot of conflicts in relationships.
Since everyone wants respect, what exactly is it?
According to one dictionary, respect is “an attitude of consideration or high regard”….
I love this particular definition…
Respect in a relationship should basically be the same thing. One should have an attitude of consideration or high regard for their partner /better half…. Simple.
Sadly, most people don’t know this.
A friend of mine came to complain to me just recently. According to her, her boyfriend who initially use to text and call and make plans when he was “toasting” her seems to be changing.
She said nowadays, he makes plans only to blow them off without even as much as a call or text…what’s his excuse later??
He forgot or he got caught up!..
So you suddenly live in the stone age with no cell phone yh? ………………
Back to her..
……She says, even the calling and texting part has grown stale as well…
No more daily goodnight kisses or good morning pings or “I am thinking about you” remainders… Wow!.…. Just some days when he feels happy or something ‘touches‘ him…..
She says she has had it and although she has talked and talked about it, everything stays the same which makes her feel like a foolish nag…. Oh brother…
Is that consideration? Can we call it respect?..
The last one that broke her back was the case of social media…the ultimate killer of relationships…
Apparently on her birthday, he did not post a single picture of his page.. (errr..BBM doesn’t count, even your enemy does that).. which she wasn’t mad about initially plus he said he joined the social picture site after her day…
However!. Yes,however.. She goes on social media one day and sees a picture he posted and comments heavily about a long time old ‘mad‘ crush of his whom he apparently is still “close” friends with despite the long distance…. Really, niccur?? …. Well, she feels insulted and talks to me….
In my opinion, I told her it’s plain wrong.
Put yourself in the guy/girl’s shoes, would you allow something like that??… Just think about it.……
Respect means holding in high regard and considering the feelings of your partner. Your partner could have decided not to be with you but they chose you so why not understand just how blessed you are!

Listen to them with your ears as well as your head, surprise them once in a while, understand their fears, break down their walls, communicate, make plans together, … Respect them…
If you don’t feel blessed or privileged to be with that person then trust me, you have gotten to that ‘over-confident’ stage where you think you can take advantage of the person, do whatever the hell you want and the person will still stay…Right??Yeeeessshh!…
Respect is important in every relationship.
Consider her/his feelings, place his/her above emotions above others…. Basically, treat the person how you will want to be treated…Finis!
…… (which also relates to leaving behind your exes, past lovers, crushes, groupies… I mean, you get the picture)….
If you cannot respect who you are with, it’s only a matter of time before he/she gives in to all the constant requests from someone who knows exactly how to do a better job.
…… I mean, would you rather stay disrespected and undervalued??
